Net Hero Podcast – Battery doctor soon on call?

Our net zero future will involve batteries! Lots of them.

No longer is it just your kids' toy or remote control that you need to worry about, soon a battery will be part of your car, fridge, heating, water supply, clothing who knows where? Batteries will become ubquitous, so how do we check them to ensure they are working right?

If your EV starts playing up you can't look under the hood to see what's up, you will need to check the health of the battery cells so how do you do that without taking something apart?

Well a team of scientists led by Prof Peter Kruger head of Experimental Physics at Sussex University, have come up with a way to do just that using quantum physics to make a 'camera scanner' to see if your battery is poorly!
