Swiss manufacturer of computer peripherals and software Logitech has pledged to carbon label all of its products, beginning with its gaming range later this year.
Based on an analysis of the overall product's carbon impact throughout its life, the labels will show a number corresponding to the carbon emitted during manufacturing, distribution, consumer use and ultimately the end of life.
The tech giant says the initiative aims to encourage consumers to make more informed purchasing decisions.
Bracken Darrell, President and CEO of Logitec, said: "By communicating the carbon impact of our products, we are empowering and collaborating with our consumers to better the world.
"Carbon is the new calorie, we need to know what we’re consuming. We also invite other companies to join Logitech in driving positive change by providing full transparency on their products. It will take an industry-wide effort to truly make a difference."
In 2019, the company announced its support of the Paris Agreement and vowed it would be powered exclusively by renewable electricity by 2030.
