AirTrunk commits to net zero by 2030

Data centre company AirTrunk has set a target of reaching net zero by 2030.

The Japanese business has stated it will do so using a live data reporting software – that will update the company at all times on its emission levels.

Data centres are huge consumers of electricity, which the company has stated means businesses within the sector need to become “stewards” of the environment.

CEO Robin Khuda said: “As the pioneer of hyperscale data centres in the region, we are also pioneering a global standard for managing net zero emissions in hyperscale data centre environments.

“It is based on transparency, accountability and customer collaboration, and balances climate ambition with emissions ownership.

“It remains our goal to set the industry standard in sustainability across the Asia Pacific and Japan region – and our net zero approach puts us in a position to pave the way in data centre emissions reporting.”
