‘Delivery bots, RDVs and drones to displace millions of truck and van deliveries over the next decade’

‘Delivery bots, RDVs and drones to displace millions of truck and van deliveries over the next decade’

New technologies could replace millions of truck deliveries as logistics firms turn to drones and robots to reduce congestion, carbon emissions and fuel usage.

That's among the predictions made in a recent report by Navigant Research, which states rising labour and fuel costs could increase the market viability of delivery robots, robotic delivery vehicle and drones.

The new technologies are considered to be suitable for automation and electrification and could reduce operational costs.

Senior Research Analyst at Navigant Research, Ryan Citron, said: “These technologies are expected to make last-mile logistics more efficient and sustainable, while also transforming local commerce and user experience through new business models such as on-demand store-hailing.”
