UK government supports Peruvian climate battle

The UK government is funding a programme looking to mitigate climate change in Peru.

It is looking to attract investment for eight projects, which cover waste management, agriculture and energy.

Solar and other renewable forms of energy will be introduced into industry to lower the nation’s carbon footprint.

Structuring financial models and providing technical assistance will be some of the main ways the UK will try to help Peru get the projects up and running.

UK Ambassador to Peru, Gavin Cook, stated: “The technical and financial experts will help them develop to get the investment that will drive not just their projects but wider social impact. The lessons we learn will also help the Peruvian government and private sector generate capital flows for the future. I can’t wait to hear how they get on.”
