Octopus Real Estate to make new care homes net zero by 2030

Octopus Real Estate has pledged to make all its new care homes net zero by 2030.

New buildings will be made with carbon-neutrality front-of-mind, with its existing portfolio of 71 care homes set to benefit from retrofitting measures to cut down emissions.

It has committed to making these older developments net zero by 2040, with the entire Octopus Group looking to become net zero as an organisation by 2030.

Octopus Real Estate CEO Ben Davis said: “This reflects our strident belief that companies will increasingly be judged on how they are building a better tomorrow and should be seen as a clear marker of intent for our objectives and strategy.

“We have been delighted with the stamp of approval we have received from our investors for this approach so far.”
