It’s everywhere and as I found out while recording this podcast, it’s actually the second most used material on the planet after water!

Concrete, it’s been around for more than a thousand years and it has built everything from the Coliseum in Rome to the Shard but in all that time has it really changed? It’s an intensly carbon heavy product in terms of what it’s made of and the energy needed to make it.

In this chat, Ian Riley from the World Cement Association explains to me what the sector is doing to try and clean up its act and ensure ’embedded carbon’ in our buildings reduces in the future.
