Novelis pledges to achieve net zero emissions by 2050

Aluminium manufacturer Novelis has announced its commitment to become a net zero carbon company by 2050 or sooner.

It has set short term goals of reducing its carbon footprint by 30%, waste to landfill by 20% and energy intensity and water consumption by 10% by 2026, in addition to becoming a fully circular business.

It has pledged to continue increasing the use of recycled content in its products and engaging with customers, suppliers and industry peers across the value chain to drive innovation that improves aluminium's overall sustainability.

In addition, Novelis has committed to increasing the representation of women in the company to 30% in senior leadership positions and 15% in senior technical roles by 2024.

“As the world's largest recycler of aluminium, sustainability has been paramount to our business and these new commitments will further ensure the health and well-being of the environment, the safety of our people and the long term success of the communities in which we live and work.”
