China’s JinkoSolar targets 100% renewable energy by 2025

China’s JinkoSolar targets 100% renewable energy by 2025

Chinese solar panel manufacturer JinkoSolar has unveiled a roadmap to achieve its target of being powered solely by renewable energy by 2025.

It includes a number of actions such as building new factories in or adjacent renewable-rich regions to facilitate green electricity sources and focusing on research and development and commercialisation of higher power and efficiency solar products to reduce power consumption per watt.

The company also aims to accelerate research on new and recycled material alternatives, less material consumption and lighter and thinner production of solar panels and seeks to embed principles of sustainability in the supply chain.

In addition, JinkoSolar will invest more in onsite solar and storage projects by deploying the renewable technology in all suitable rooftops of its manufacturing facilities, workshops, warehouses as well as new and existing office buildings.

Dany Qian, Vice President of JinkoSolar said: "We're proud of our ambitious roadmap we have set for the coming 10 years.

"As the world's largest solar module manufacturer, it doesn't make sense that we produce renewable equipment but not use renewable energy ourselves. We are well-positioned to lead the industry in the pursuit of giving the next generation a liveable planet, an affordable and sustainable energy solution."
