Watford Council offers energy efficiency grants for businesses

Watford Council has launched a new programme dedicated to businesses which are interested in saving money and carbon dioxide emissions.

Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 are available to help fund different energy-saving technologies such as insulation, LED lighting, energy-efficient boilers, air-source heat pumps and electric vehicles (EVs).

The Low Carbon Workspaces programme has already supported ten businesses in Watford including a recent grant for LED lighting at the Pump House Theatre.

Through the application process, businesses are advised on how to tackle energy consumption, identify suitable projects for funding and find sustainable practices for their workspace.

Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor said: “We are facing a climate emergency and it’s vital that we take action at all levels to make our world more sustainable.

"These have been tough times for our local businesses and I want to do all we can to help support them to get back on their feet. These grants will mean that they can save them money on their energy bills, make our air cleaner and help protect our environment for the future."
