Oxford City Council to host youth climate summit this autumn

Voices of young people on issues around climate change will soon be heard during a youth climate summit set to take place this autumn as part of Oxford City Council's climate commitments.

The online event aims to offer younger citizens a platform to discuss issues, access expert knowledge and shape the city's future climate strategy.

The conference will take place in November around the period that the COP26 climate change summit was to have been hosted in Glasgow and is expected to include presentations from experts, workshops, and Q&A sessions.

Tom Hayes, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Green Transport and Zero Carbon Oxford, said: "We want to unite young people in Oxford and countries affected by the climate crisis through our virtual summit.

"We want Oxford’s younger people to feel more confident having climate conversations with older generations and asking for urgent action which protects them from the brunt of a changing climate."
