Samsung receives zero waste to landfill validation for its manufacturing sites

Samsung has announced all its manufacturing sites worldwide have been verified by a third party as diverting at least 95% of their waste streams through methods other than incineration.

This verification includes sites in South Korea, US and China - one building in Hwaseong, Korea, has also been validated for 'Zero Waste to Landfill' at the platinum level for reaching 100% waste diversion.

The Korean electronics giant says this is a part of a strategy to minimise its environmental footprint by shifting waste management methods from thermal processing or landfill disposals to recycling and reuse.

By supporting waste reduction campaigns, the firm has also achieved to increase employee awareness about this issue.

Chanhoon Park, Executive Vice President of Global Infrastructure Technology at Samsung Electronics, said: “The 'Zero Waste to Landfill Gold' validation is testament to the care and effort by our employees around the world to protect the environment.

"Eco-friendly operations are now a must for any business and we will continue to ensure sustainable growth that is mindful of the environment that we live and operate in."
