Royal Dublin Society selects SOLARWATT to kit out Shelbourne Hall

The Royal Dublin Society (RDS) has selected German solar equipment manufacturer SOLARWATT to deliver photovoltaic panels for one of its key buildings in the city, Shelbourne Hall.

The philanthropic organisation authorised the 100kW scheme for the purpose-built hall, which is used for events such as exhibitions, conferences, concerts and exams.

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) supported the installation.

Managing Director of Local Power, Pat Smith added: “The RDS in Dublin has continued its journey of showing leadership in sustainability and we are very proud to have carried out the installation.

"Interest is picking up partly due to all the talk of climate change and targets for cutting carbon emissions. Environmental credentials are an important part of doing business today. People are looking beyond price to long-term benefits and cost control – that means quality.”
