Vestas to supply 53 turbines to Polish wind farms

Vestas has won a 132 MW turbine order from Akuo Energy. The Danish company will supply, install and service a total of 53 turbines at three sites in the country.

19 V136-3.45 MW turbines and one V126-3.45 MW will be delivered to the Wielowies project in southern Poland.  22 V110-2.0 MW turbines will be installed at EP 44 and 11 V110-2.0 MW will be supplied to the Gniew wind farm, both in the north of the country.

Vestas says the three projects will comprise bespoke solutions including site-specific rotor sizes, ratings and hub heights to cater for specific site and transportation constraints. To optimise energy output the three projects will feature a VestasOnline® Business SCADA solution.

The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, as well as a 15-year service agreement. Turbine deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2020, with commissioning planned for the back end of next year.

Eric Scotto, Chief Executive of Akuo Energy says, “We fully trust in Vestas’ capability to execute those projects within the allocated time schedule and budget.”

Nils de Baar, President of Vestas Northern & Central Europe, says, “This order...underlines our ability to leverage our extensive expertise across the value chain to deliver a solution that ensures clean energy at the lowest cost of energy to the Polish energy consumer.”
