German supermarket chain Lidl has opened its first net zero emissions store.
The shop has been built in the Dutch city of Woerden and is supplied with a solar system from BayWa RE.
It is the first time the retailer has officially said one of its locations will not generate any emissions from its operations - the solar system is able to produce 100% of the store’s energy demand.
The supermarket also features a carport with a fast-charging point for electric vehicles (EVs).
