ELF 2018: Wright Commission judges are big fans of winner Nicotra Gebhardt

Fan manufacturer Nicotra Gebhardt has won the Wright Commission competition with its innovative technology.

The Retailers Energy Forum's contest was set up to honour Bill Wright who sadly passed away in May 2017 and was said to be a champion for energy, innovation and energy reduction.

The judges at the final round, hosted at Energy Live Future in London, chose Nicotra Gebhardt to win a year’s mentoring from a major UK retailer to bring the idea to market.

The firm's energy saving technology is a hybrid of the scroll and plug fan types on the market, which it claims offers energy efficiency improvements of around 15% compared to existing models.

Business Development Manager Paul Brown said winning the award "justifies all the hard work, investment and dedication of people in Nicotra Gebhardt".

He added: "It also hopefully moves on the fan technology as a whole globally and at the end of the day it's all about saving energy, so if we can supply fans into buildings and they save energy to boot, it can only be good for the planet."

Runner-ups Aquapulse and Lightfi developed water efficiency equipment and low energy lighting systems respectively.
