Case Study – KARRO Food Group – Brownlow Utilities
Processing premium savings as well as pork sausages!
KARRO Food Group is one of the UK’s leading meat processors with pork processing plants across the country. As a large food manufacturer there are energy-intensive processes that place huge demand on energy supplies.
Having experience at Grampian Foods and Vion Food Group, Shaun Mc Clarnon and his team at Brownlow Utilities have successfully helped KARRO Food manage their energy supplies for over two years through a range of services;
- Bill checking and validation – Multiple billing errors were identified within a major energy supplier’s billing system. Brownlow Utilities worked extensively with the supplier to correct these errors which were wrong to the tune of hundreds of thousands of pounds!
- Rate negotiation and optimisation – Brownlow Utilities have helped KARRO Food save significant amounts on their gas and electricity bills. They recently completed a tender on behalf of KARRO Food in which they agreed a ‘blend and extend’ with the gas supplier. This has meant that KARRO Food can get the rate benefit now rather than at the renewal date in April 2018!
- Carbon legislation - In addition, the team are supporting KARRO Food with Climate Change Agreements (CCA) and energy efficiency projects.
Gail Frost, Group Purchasing Manager at KARRO Food Ltd. explains; “When it comes to anything related to our energy or utilities, Brownlow Utilities are our first port of call. They support our business on many levels from an energy perspective and have helped us realise significant savings. They are a trusted partner.”
