Cabinet reshuffle: Richard Harrington joins BEIS team, Jesse Norman leaves

Richard Harrington has joined the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) team as part of Theresa May’s Cabinet reshuffle.

The MP for Watford served as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Work and Pensions from 17th July last year to 14th June 2017.

His responsibilities at BEIS have not been confirmed yet.

Mrs May also reshuffled Jesse Norman to the Department for Transport as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State.

His responsibilities, while at BEIS, included industrial strategy, smart meters, international energy and industrial policy.

Claire Perry has also joined the BEIS team while Nick Hurd has been appointed as the new Home Office Minister.

Energy Secretary Greg Clark, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State Margot James and Lord Prior of Brampton and Minister of State Jo Johnson have retained their roles.

Michael Gove has returned to the front bench as Environment Secretary.
