Oxfordshire’s £205m energy-from-waste plant open

A new £205 million energy-from-waste plant in Oxforshire has officially been opened.

The Ardley Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) can process 300,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste into renewable energy.

The plant has a capacity of 26MW - enough electricity to power 38,000 homes.

That's equivalent to more than two-thirds of Oxford.

Ian McAulay, Chief Executive of Viridor said: “Our ERFs ensure we extract every ounce of value from what people throw away, complementing the vital recycling services provided by councils and their contractors."
