Newt obliterates Obama’s energy policy

Right wing Republican candidate Newt Gingrich has blasted President Obama's record on energy and said his decision to veto the Keystone XL pipeline was wrong.

In a vitriolic speech at the Colorado Energy Summit he lashed the President's energy policy saying he was out of touch with ordinary Americans. He said: "This is the most anti-American energy administration we've ever had and the consequence is you have the highest cost of gasoline in American history. If you live in a high rise in Manhattan and ride a subway to work it may not occur to you the high price of gasoline as you don't drive but if you are the rest of the country a high price of gasoline has a lot of effects. This Obama administration's high price american model is very dangerous and very destructive."

He went on to criticise the President for not standing up to Iranian aggression regarding threats to the Straits of Hormuz.

Mr Gingrich went on: "A rational American government would have a crash program on American energy and would say our goal is to be so independent of the Middle East that we actually don't care what they do."

He also said the administration had failed in dealing with the BP Gulf disaster and was wrong to block the controversial Keystone XL pipeline on environmental grounds.

"At a time of high unemployment and at a time when we need more energy security to be safe in the market the President vetos the Keystone pipeline. It kills 30-50,000 jobs and it blocks us from having a pipeline in the US in a time of crisis such as the Middle East," he said.
