Small is beautiful when it comes to wind

Small is beautiful when it comes to wind

The opportunities of small scale wind are being discussed in Gateshead today as part of a conference run by Renewable UK. More than 350 people attending will hear how wind power could apply to their lives and how the returns of small scale generation can be significant.

Maria McCaffrey MBE, Chief Executive of Renewable UK said: "It is important to give people an opportunity to tap into the knowledge and advice of experts from across the small wind industry. Even for a modest investment, a good return is guaranteed quickly, thanks to the highly attractive financial incentives on offer for those who want to take part in the UK's green energy revolution."

Through feed in tariffs the Government has guaranteed payments for electricity generated by small turbine owners for the next 20 years, encouraging widespread interest from farmers, landowners, schools and households. At present there are 15,000 small turbines across the country.
