BBVA joins partnership to make 1bn people climate active

The bank has also pledged to achieve carbon-neutrality across its own emissions and those of its customers by 2050

Spanish bank BBVA has joined a coalition to get one billion people engaged with climate action and environmental awareness by 2025.

The ‘Every Action Counts’ coalition, promoted by the Green Digital Finance Alliance (GDFA), comprises of many companies worldwide and aims to get members of the public to bring environmentally-friendly habits into their daily lives.

Using technology and global partnerships to incentivise more than one billion people to start taking green actions is what the coalition is striving to achieve.

BBVA has also pledged to achieve carbon-neutrality across its own emissions and those of its customers by 2050.

Antoni Ballabriga, Global Head of Responsible Business at BBVA, said: “A profound behavioural change is needed and we have no doubt that it is going to happen.

“We are in a very exciting time, which offers us the opportunity to develop digital solutions that help citizens to generate greater sustainable awareness and help them on the road to the transition to a zero-carbon world.”
