Chile’s public transport system receives boost of 150 new electric buses

The public transport system in Santiago, Chile, has received a strong boost with the addition of 150 new electric buses.

The buses, which were developed by electric bus company BYD, will run across the historic central avenue in the Chilean capital.

Tamara Berríos, Country Manager, BYD Chile, said: "This new fleet of 150 BYD electric buses will bring citizens more quality trips while improving Santiago’s air quality."

Santiago’s electric bus fleet will reach almost 800 units by the end of this year - Chile wants to electrify public transportation by 2040.
