‘Businesses could save up to £300m a year now Climate Change Agreement Scheme has been extended’

Businesses could save up to £300 million annually now the Climate Change Agreement Scheme has been extended.

Climate Change Agreements (known as CCA) work by setting targets for reducing energy use in your business. In return, you could receive discounts on the Climate Change Levy (CCL) - an energy tax based on the size of your energy bills.

The 2-year extension of CCA scheme could save eligible businesses up to £300 million, per year, up to 2025. Energy-intensive companies are encouraged to sign up and start making vital savings. On buildings specifically, UK businesses are wasting energy to the tune of £60m in unnecessary energy bills, according to a Green Alliance report.

CCA Scheme extension will prevent an estimated 700,000 tonnes of CO2 from being emitted each year - equivalent to taking 350,000 cars off the road. Business benefits of Climate Change Agreements:

  • Save money
  • Improve energy efficiency
  • Cut carbon dioxide emissions and help combat climate change
  • Provide greater clarity and security at a time when your business needs it most

What do you need to do next?

If you are already in a CCA scheme, that’s great news. Don’t forget to review your portfolio and see if you can add any new sites into the agreement and ensure you have updated your PP10/11’s. If you haven’t ever reviewed the CCA scheme, get in touch with us and we can see if there is a sector CCA available to you. We’ll work with you and your business to gather the relevant information to register you in a CCA scheme and then support you with the on-going annual reporting. To find out more please contact us and we will be happy to help.
