SSE seeks to boost 18.7MW wind farm to 80MW

Energy giant SSE is seeking permission to repower a 18.7MW wind farm in Scotland to 80MW.

The utility has submitted an application to replace the existing 22 turbines of its Tangy wind farm with 16 newer and more efficient 150 metre-tall machines.

The original wind farm has been operational since 2004.

The merger between Big Six energy suppliers SSE and npower was recently provisionally cleared by the UK competition watchdog.
