New app allows customers to report power cuts

New app allows customers to report power cuts

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has launched a new app that enables customers to report power cuts with the touch of a button.

Called ‘Power Track’, the app will allow customers to alert the electricity distribution network operator, rather than having to call the customer services team.

This is expected to enable SSEN to respond quicker to power cuts, leading to electricity being restored faster.

People will also be able to take photos of any damage to the electricity network and send them directly to SSEN’s teams through the app – which combined with GPS signals, will alert engineers to the exact location.

Lisa Doogan, Director of Customer Relationship Manager at SSEN said: “We work all year round to improve the resilience of our electricity networks and we do everything we can to minimise disruption to our customers’ supplies.

“However, in the event customers do lose power, we want to make sure they have all the tools they need to report directly to our teams, in whichever way they feel most comfortable.”
