E.ON buys stake in mini wind turbine start-up

E.ON has bought a stake in a wind power start-up that provides small, on-site turbines for business customers.

The energy giant invested in b.ventus through its German subsidiaries Avacon and E.DIS - the firm offers a single-source solution for companies to quickly and easily begin producing their own renewable power.

The firm's main product is a 250kW wind turbine specifically designed for this role, which stands around 30 metres tall and does not require a lengthy planning process.

The start-up handles installation, operations, maintenance and if necessary, repairs.

A customer’s investment in the turbine is expected to pay for itself in around six years.

Alexander Montebaur, CEO of E.DIS, said: "We chose b.ventus as a partner because the company has developed a promising, innovative business idea that we want to ramp up."
