Google replaces parents for help around the house

Google replaces parents for help around the house

Modern Brits are more likely to ask the internet for help with household tasks than family members.

New research from uSwitch.com reveals Google, YouTube and Siri are more popular options than Mum or Dad when learning how to perform basic jobs like bleeding radiators or turning off the gas supply.

Amongst young adults, 28% say they would use the internet, compared to 23% asking their dad and only 9% asking their mum for help.

The survey also highlights a lack of household knowledge, with 12 million people saying they don't know where the gas main valve is located and almost ten million in the dark about where to find their water meter. Both of these locations are important to know in case of an emergency and also to avoid wasting money.
