Norwegian outages leave UK gas system short – DMR

Norwegian outages leave UK gas system short – DMR

The gas system is undersupplied today, according to npower’s daily market report.

Tim Carter from npower’s optimisation desk said this follows “some major outages in Norway caused by knock-on effects from a power outage at one of the production fields”.

Total pipeline flows are slightly lower than pre-outage levels, with Norwegian pipeline Langeled nominating 67mcm but the UK’s Interconnector exports are down to offset this.

LNG nominations have increased to 40mcm while storage injections remain low at 2.5mcm, following Rough going offline yesterday.

Power margins are just under 10GW today as coal generation has dropped. Wind is currently producing 2.5GW.

Oil is trading just under $50 a barrel (£33/Bbl).
