Gas linepack opens short – DMR

Gas linepack opens short – DMR

The gas linepack has opened short this morning, according to npower’s daily market report.

This is due to a drop in imports from the Dutch interconnector.

Storage demand is higher however CCGT demand has dropped to 26mcm.

Ben Spry from npower’s optimisation desk said: “Wind load factors remain muted below 20% and are currently out-turning below forecast.”

However, they are “expected to recover to 30%”, he said.

Solar power is generating 5GW today but it is forecast to drop this weekend.

French and Dutch interconnectors are nominated to import to the UK at maximum capacity.

The oil market has fallen to below $65 a barrel (£42/Bbl). Mr Spry added: “Saudi Arabia said they are able to raise production should demand increase.”
