EDF buys first wind project in New Mexico

EDF is increasing its share of renewable energy capacity in the US with the purchase of another wind project.

The Roosevelt wind farm is EDF Renewable Energy's first project in New Mexico and will have a capacity of up to 300MW.

The news comes just a few days after the energy firm confirmed it bought a 194MW wind project in Texas.

Southwestern Public Service Company (SPS), a subsidiary of Xcel Energy, has agreed to buy 250MW of electricity, which will be generated from the first phase of the project.

It is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2015.

EDF Renewable Energy’s portfolio consists of 4GW of developed projects, with 1.9GW of installed capacity.
