Davey to host small supplier summit

Davey to host small supplier summit

It’s going to be a busy day for Energy Secretary Ed Davey tomorrow as he plans to chair a summit for independent energy suppliers – on the same day as announcing the Energy Bill. The talks will revolve around tackling the barriers to getting a larger chunk of the UK retail energy market.

The usual suspects are likely to attend the meeting at DECC’s HQ in Whitehall, such as Co-operative Energy, Ecotricity, First Utility, Good Energy, Haven Power, Opus Energy and Smartest Energy.

Alongside them will be representatives from the Cornwall Energy Associates, Loco2 Energy, Spark Energy, Utilita as well as industry regulator Ofgem.

Mr Davey said: “I want to be sure that we make it as easy as possible for new players to break into the UK market and that if there are any barriers to that, we do everything we can to remove them.”
