Brazilians see oil and gas as “dream employer”

Brazilians see the oil and gas sector as a “dream employer” according to the chief executive of an engineering firm heavily involved in offshore oil and gas platforms off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.

Daniel Moczydlower, CEO of Chemtech, an engineering, control and automation firm owned by Siemens, suggested the sector was increasingly popular.

He said surveys in the United States found the sector was lowest in popularity for employment except for the tobacco industry - but it was the complete opposite in the South American powerhouse.

He told the Rio@Energy conference in London this week: “Oil and gas stands in an excellent position as an employer in Brazil… It’s a dream employer for young engineers in Brazil.”

Mr Moczydlower told ELN in an interview after the conference, the sector was “booming not only increasing”.

He added: “Activities in oil and gas were already a major activity for the Brazilian economy. Now with the new province, the pre-salt discoveries, we’re going to take another jump. This is going to be huge.”
