Rolls-Royce bags contract worth up to $650 million

Rolls-Royce has been awarded contracts worth up to $650 million by a Brazilian oil and gas company, Petrobras.

Rolls-Royce will supply 32 gas turbines, which includes waste to heat recovery units. The turbines will be used on eight specialist vessels for the extraction of oil and gas.

The British company will also provide long-term services, technical support and training to ensure that these vessels operate at their best.

Rolls-Royce announced the construction of a $100 million purpose-built factory in Santa Cruz back in February, which is expected to start running in 2013.

The British company has held ties with Brazil for over 50 years and has more than 500 employees across the country.
