Feed in Tariff puts breaks on Marks and Spencer solar

The highly controversial review to the Feed in Tariff scheme has prevented Marks & Spencer from building a massive solar array on a 1.1 million square foot distribution centre.

Speaking at an M&S event Richard Gillies, Director of Plan A, CSR and sustainability, said: "We went through all the work [for the solar array] only to find the feed-in tariff revised. From our point of view, we've been looking for consistency and a framework we can make decisions in."

The distribution centre in Bradford was set to be covered in solar panels, but a decision that has cut feed-in tariff rates by up to 70% on projects of 50KW has meant the retail giants opted to shelve plans instead.
