Siemens wins Scottish wind farm deal

Siemens is to provide 68 turbines for the Griffin wind farm in Scotland operated by SSE Renewables.

The German company will deliver and install the turbines, which will each provide around 2.3MW of wind power, with the site experiencing total production of 156 MW upon its completion in 2012.

Earlier this year, SSER secured £400m of loan funding from the European Investment Bank in order to develop wind power projects across the UK and Ireland.

The company's finance director Gregor Alexander explained that around £3bn will be spent by SSER on renewable energy over the next five years.
