Race Bank installs final turbine

The final turbine has been installed at Ørsted’s Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm.

The facility, which is based approximately 16.8 miles off the North Norfolk coast, will use its 91 6MW Siemens towers to generate 573MW of renewable electricity.

Its developers expect it to be capable of powering more than half a million homes across the country.

The installation of the last turbine means the project remains on schedule, with the wind farm expected to be fully operational in early 2018.

David Summers, Project Director for Race Bank at Ørsted UK, said: "This has been one of the more difficult projects to execute, with challenging seabed conditions and a complex export cable route.

"Construction has progressed well and we’re right on schedule – this is an important milestone to reach."
