SSE has formed a joint venture with Norwegian firm Statoil to drive forward the Dogger Bank Offshore Wind projects.
The 50:50 partnership will see both companies work collaboratively to progress three of the four consented projects towards financial investment decisions.
That includes the Dogger Bank Creyke Beck A and B and Dogger Bank Teesside A, which total 3.6GW.
The Dogger Bank zone consists of four 1.2GW offshore wind projects, located off the east coast of Yorkshire, with a total generating capacity of 4.8GW once completed.
The remaining project, Dogger Bank Teesside B, will be progressed by Innogy.
