Scotland offers £3m to roll out more green buses
The Scottish Government has announced a further £3 million for green buses in the country.
It is inviting bus operators, local authorities and Regional Transport Partnership’s across Scotland to apply for a share of the fund towards the purchase of low carbon emission buses.
The Scottish Green Bus Fund, now in its seventh year, aims to support the rollout of low carbon vehicles across the nation.
The government has so far invested £14.8 million in total.
Low carbon bus operators are also eligible for an enhanced rate of the Bus Service Operators Grant, which further incentivises the use of green buses.
It is intended to benefit passengers by helping operators keep their fares low and enabling them to run services that might not otherwise be commercially viable.
Scottish Transport Minister Humza Yousaf said: “I am pleased to announce funding for this latest round of the Green Bus Fund, which has already seen the introduction of more than 300 low emission buses to the Scottish fleet and I look forward to seeing even more on our roads.”
The deadline for applications is 30th June.
