renewable hydrogen
The MoU will serve as a framework to support the development of a renewable hydrogen industry and trade across the EU and Egypt, including infrastructure and financing
They view renewable hydrogen as a ‘key contributor’ to reducing emissions and ensuring energy security
They have committed to develop an operational roadmap for 2023-24, with concrete joint actions agreed within six months
It will support the construction of a large-scale electrolyser at BASF’s Ludwigshafen site, which will have an annual production capacity of 54MW
It will provide Protium with the infrastructure necessary to generate renewable hydrogen, with plans to supply local manufacturers once built
The IPCEI Hy2Use project is expected to boost the supply of renewable and low carbon hydrogen, helping reduce dependency on the supply of natural gas
The hydrogen plants must have capacities of at least 100MW and produce at least 10,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually
It will provide investment over the next four years, with the aim of accelerating production and storage of the technology as well as unlocking additional private investment
Once fully completed, it will produce at least 300 tonnes of green hydrogen per year
The Clean Hydrogen Partnership will support projects that boost renewable hydrogen production, reduce its costs and develop storage and distribution solutions
