£3bn energy storage project seeks community input

Glen Earrach Energy (GEE), developers of the £3 billion Loch Ness energy storage project are seeking input from the local community.

Residents from Balnain, Drumnadrochit and Loch Ness will have the opportunity to find out more about the project and the Community Benefit Fund promised by GEE.

The 2GW project is expected to generate more energy and electricity storage than all other pumped hydro storage projects on Loch Ness combined.

Roderick MacLeod, Glen Earrach Energy Director, said: 'We're excited to deepen our engagement with the local community before the statutory consultation begins later this year.

'Our goal is to maximise the project's benefits and we believe larger-scale, water-efficient projects can deliver greater value for residents, the local economy and environment, while minimising impact. We are inviting residents to share their vision for a Community Benefit Fund that best meets the community’s needs at our upcoming event.'
