The number of zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) in the UK has seen a significant rise, with a 43% increase over the past year.
Zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) are a type of ultra low emission vehicle, which means they produce less than 75g of carbon dioxide per kilometre.

As of March 2024, there are 1,100,000 licensed zero emission vehicles on the road, representing 2.7% of all vehicles.
In the first quarter of 2024 alone, 91,000 zero emission vehicles were registered for the first time, marking an 11% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Zero emission cars accounted for 15% of all new car registrations, a figure that has remained steady from the previous year.
Additionally, zero emission light goods vehicles (LGVs) saw a substantial growth, with 6,000 new registrations in the first quarter of 2024, a 57% rise from the previous year.
These LGVs now make up 6% of all new LGV registrations, according to the Department for Transport.
