Big Zero Report 2023

Energy company BayWA r.e., has finished construction work on its Bracks Solar Farm in Cambridgeshire and has received planning consent for the development of the Clump Farm and Hill Farm solar projects in Leicestershire.

Bracks Farm currently produces enough energy to power 8,000 homes.

With a total capacity of 67.9 megawatt peak (MWp), the new projects will be able to supply up to 22,000 Leicestershire homes with green energy per year.

The development team for the farms in Leicestershire will also plant native hedgerows and wildflower meadows on both sites to create ‘ecologically rich environments’.

John Milligan, Managing Director at BayWa r.e. UK, said: “Solar farms are essential to achieve the UK’s goal of net-zero carbon by 2050 and ensure homes and businesses can be powered by clean, renewable and domestically generated energy.”

Construction of the Leicestershire projects will begin in 2025.
