Primark has launched its first circular product collection – with everything designed and manufactured for recycling.

Working on standards set by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the 35-piece collection is Primark’s first step towards committing to purely sustainable fashion.

The cotton used is from farmers that have been trained to use less water, chemical fertilisers and pesticides.

The clothing has also gone through a durability test; to ensure it lasts for as long as possible, through washing and wear.

Buttons and embellishments are designed to be removed and recycled, making the full outfit recyclable, Primark has said.

Circular Product Lead, Nicholas Lambert, said: “While we hope our customers enjoy wearing every piece in the collection, we also want to bring them on this journey with us as we look to change mindsets about what an affordable, circular product looks like.

“This collection was created by a small group of our designers, buyers and suppliers piloting our new Circular Product Standard and we know this is just one small step in our commitment to become a more circular business.”
