The Isle of Man has committed to net zero by 2050, with an extension of the Paris Agreement reaching the island.

Crown Dependencies have had the legally binding treaty extended to them this March by the UK, which will mean the self-governing island will now expand its efforts to limit temperature increases to 1.5°C.

The Paris Agreement has now been signed by 196 countries.

Chief Minister of the Isle of Man, Alfred Cannan, said: “It is a hugely significant milestone that will see the Isle of Man stand shoulder to shoulder with nearly 200 countries on the serious matter of climate change.”
