The winners of offshore wind bids for projects in Scotland have been revealed.
Crown Estate Scotland has selected 13 companies to share an investment of close to £260 million and start building renewable projects – mainly to lower the carbon emissions of North Sea oil and gas platforms.
TotalEnergies, bp, Cerulean Winds and Flotation Energy are some of the successful applicants – with the largest supply capacity at 5GW and lowest at 500MW.
Between 25 and 50 year leases will be provided by Crown Estate Scotland for the projects.
Wind currently supplies more than 25% of the UK’s electricity, National Grid revealed.
