This week I speak to Chris Skidmore MP whose Net Zero Blueprint was published last month and we discuss the state of our progress and why he still feels optimistic we can hit the 2050 target.
But the main subject of the podcast is climate science of the oceans. With work already showing we can create antibiotics from ocean algae and bacteria, therefore cutting the emissions of pharmaceutical synthesis, many believe the water can unlock more net zero benefits.
However who is responsible for the patent for new drugs or technologies gathered from our oceans? How do we protect the rights of poorer nations or smaller companies and most importantly how do we secure the marine environment?
I spoke to two brilliant scientists from Aberdeen University on this net zero moral maze, enjoy my chat with Professors Abbe Brown and Marcel Jaspars.
