Volvo Trucks takes 32% share of electric truck market

Volvo Trucks has sold more than 4,300 electric trucks since it started making them in 2019.

This represents 32% of the market for heavy electric trucks – selling them in more than 38 countries.

Electric trucks are being taken up by far more companies and personnel, with a 200% growth in the European market last year; seeing more than 1,000 units sold.

Volvo has revealed that top purchaser of electric trucks on the continent is Germany, followed by Sweden and Norway in second and third.

The UK comes sixth in the number of European registrations.

Volvo Trucks has set a target for half of its global sales of new trucks to be electric by 2030.

Roger Alm, President, said: “Looking at the goods flow patterns in Europe, it’s clearly possible to electrify nearly half of all those transport operations with our line-up of electric trucks. We see it as our mission to support our customers in making that happen.”
