Extantia launches €300m platform to advance net zero transition

Extantia Capital has announced a new €300 million (£267m) platform to invest in and accelerate innovations that support the net zero transition.

The Berlin-based venture capital company's platform includes Extantia Flagship, a €150 million (£134m) venture fund dedicated to backing scalable decarbonisation tech companies and Extantia Allstars, a €150 million (£134m) fund-of-funds investing in climate tech venture capital funds across the globe.

In addition, it includes Extantia Ignite, a sustainability hub advancing knowledge and competence in climate innovation and ESG practices.

Extantia currently has more than €100 million (£89m) of assets under management, with 12 direct investments and seven venture capital fund commitments.

Sebastian Heitmann, Partner at Extantia said: “This is more than just another climate tech fund.

“To reach net zero, we need a major change across the entire economy and mobilisation of all market players. Over the past two years, we built a platform to catalyse this movement. We provide economically and ecologically viable investment alternatives to asset managers; education and knowledge to industry leaders and policymakers; and capital and domain expertise to entrepreneurs.”
