Online marketplace launched for net zero suppliers

The Growth Company has released a new service looking to connect suppliers of net zero products to buyers – increasing both the ease of clean trade and the competitiveness of the market.

This online marketplace will allow prospective buyers of different services to find everything they need for net zero in one place – with Green Economy partnering with purchasing companies including Eon and Electricity North West.

Called the ‘Green Economy’, this platform will look to provide a one-stop shop for all green sales in Manchester and elsewhere.

The company is based in Manchester and has therefore stated that any firm operating from the city can join at no cost to the business, however, companies from the rest of the UK are still encouraged to take part.

Between 2019 and 2020, Greater Manchester firms within the net zero sector had collective sales of more than £8.6 billion. The Growth Company hopes that this new marketplace can help this number grow.

Amy House, Director of Green Economy said: “In Greater Manchester, the green economy is growing faster than the national growth rate and the sector is the third largest contributor to the local economy. This highlights the huge potential and opportunity the sector can leverage, if it can overcome some of the key barriers it faces.

“Delivering net zero requires significant change to how business and consumers behave but we’ve reached a tipping point whereby if we don’t act now, it simply won’t be possible to achieve the ambitions set out by global leaders.

“I am hugely excited to be launching one of the solutions to this challenge, whilst simultaneously raising the prospects for innovative local suppliers.”
